Tebow Won Because Of Steeler's Arrogance

Well, I finally have come down off of this emotional high from the Bronco game three days later. I can admit now that I had not watched ESPN or NFL Network since the Bronco loss to the Chiefs. Just didn't want to hear them bash my guy....my fellow Gator.

He prove them all wrong. It's been one thing after another. But, the most prevailing thought was that the gimmicky offense had run it's course. And, there was no way that Tebow would be able to beat NFL teams with his arm. And, certainly not the #1 Defense in the NFL coached by the great Dick Lebeau.

But, my contention here is that the Steelers and their coaching didn't take Tebow too seriously. They certainly underestimated the game plan by OC Mike McCoy.

Now I have heard it all about how the Steelers were hobbled with so many injuries. Well, so were the Broncos. And, as Charles Davis said on NFL Total Access. The NFL prides itself saying, "Next man up."

Broncos defense played well. And, I expected Roethlisberger to stand tall and make some plays....he did. But, all I wanted from Tebow to do is play a solid game and solidify his position as the starter for next year.
Well, he gave me way more than that. And, I couldn't be more proud of him and the Bronco team.

To the Steelers....you can't believe everything your hear. You let Tebow lull you to sleep with too bad games. You got cocky and yep...GOT TEBOWED. For you it's not on to the next one. It's Denver that will be heading into New England.

His performance today will determine a lot of things. I think he has played his way into a starting position next year but, I am looking for that confidence I saw at Florida. I haven't seen it the last two games. I haven't seen it from most of the offense.

I for one can't watch. I just can't do it. But, I will be keeping up with the score and the stats. But, you have to say some things are in his favor. No Mendenhall, a hobbled Rothlisberger, and it looks like Moore at RB is iffy. I wish that was the case with the Defense. They are nasty and they will come for Tebow.

I wish him well. I want him to again to silence the critics....you either love this guy or hate. Amazingly there is no in between.

Yes, I know I am late on this commitment...but, I always like to give our commitments some spotlight. It means they made the best college choice of their lives. Go Gators!!!!

Just before the New Year, Florida basketball coach Billy Donovan picked up a new commitment.

Class of 2013 point guard Kasey Hill announced on Twitter that he verbally committed to the Gators. The Montverde Academy junior is the first player to commit to Florida in the class.

Montverde teammate Michael Frazier has signed with the Gators and will join them for the 2012-13 season.

After attending Florida's win over Yale in the O'Connell Center on Saturday, Hill tweeted, "I am a GATOR!!!!"

Rivals.com ranks him as the 27^t^h best prospect in the class, while ESPNU ranks him as the third best point guard in the class of 2013.

Florida will be in need of some depth at point guard after this season. Senior Erving Walker is the only one to graduate, leaving sophomore Scottie Wilbekin as the only other true point guard on the team. UF adds Charlotte (N.C.) United Faith Christian PG Braxton Ogbueze in the class of 2012.

I haven't talked about Tebow because I don't want to jinx him. But, I also promised that if he somehow beat the Bears that I would at least say something.

I paid attention to it since the Miami game....

"He won't win playing for just five minutes a game. He won't start anymore after the Lions game. He won't beat Oakland in Oakland. He won't keep this up against Kansas City. He definitely won't be able to move the ball against the Jets defense. The Chargers are hungrier for a win and Rivers is due for a good game. Let's see how he does against the #1 defense against the run and have to get into a shoot out with CP. Really!!! Ponder??? And, then the Bears Tampa 2 will be discipline and stop this Tebowmania.

I admit that my heart can't take this last minute heroics. But, I will take it over a loss any day. And, it is completely funny to see these critics continue to back track.

Now it's he won't win in the playoffs.

Okay, that's enough. I don't want to jinx my favorite NFL player. I will just let the season play out.

This is a shame and I ashamed for them. And, I am sure there will be plenty of suspensions. But, truly it is a travesty that the coaches and the players allowed this to get to this level.

And, of course the reporters went straight for it and asked all the questions they wanted to. And, the answers by the players were just as wrong. They were still emotional and gave emotional and not well thought out answers.

The best response was when I told someone to watch and told him what was said and done on the court and in the presser.....

He said, 'Nothing you could have said would have prepared me for what I saw....and then heard in the press conference." I say, "Exactly!" Those boys were very clean cut, articulate, but, straight hood in the actions and responses.

Now, I completely understand you have to defend yourself. But, please don't tell me that guy stomping the Xavier player was defending himself.

Horrible display gentleman....

Dwyers' Season Comes To An End

I must say I have never been more proud of a program. I got to travel through the season with this team. I got to watch from afar and up close and see how these kids....this team evolved into a winner. And, that is exactly what they are winners.

Credit this coaching staff.....Coaches Jack Daniels, Reggie Stanley, Mark Bohne, Edmond Gieger, Steve Quisenberry, Kevin Embick, Bobby Sifrit, Jim Sifrit, Smith Walters, Paul Meniure. Dan Gould, and Jim Austin.

They really took some young and raw talent, and made them a powerhouse once again. Going undefeated in their district....not losing again after the first game of the season.....annihilating some teams offensively and defensively. And, just running rough shod through there district and coming one game shy of the state title game.

And, to all those Matt Porters and Jeff Greers out there that want to imply this is a staff that recruits, I say you have no clue. There is no way to get the team I saw on Labor Day to the point they were against a St Thomas Aquinas and a Manatee with nothing but pure coaching and hard work....and a lot of commitment of personal time. They did that....they do that year in and year out. Hence, they have one of the Elite programs that kids want to be apart of.

And, let me be clear....the Panthers would be in the state title game if it were not for a lot of phantom calls against them on Friday night. I'd say 11 on 11 and Dwyer would have beaten Manatee. But, there was no way they could fight the addition 6 refs too. As one coach said after the game, 11 on 17 is a definitely mismatch.

And, thank to all the Manatee fans and parents who came up and said, "Sorry for the way things turned." But, let's be honest. Those thank yous do nothing at this point.

Coach Daniels said, 'It's a three-hour bus ride after your kids played their hearts out. It hurts....A lot of people affected the game that don't put in the hours and it's wrong"

But, thanks to those players who worked hard and developed....those players like Bauta who opened himself up to be coached.....who turned out to be pretty close to a Tebow look alike after all....and anybody who knows me knows that was a painful statement. But, to the Mike Minns, and Patrick Millers, Gage Baten, Julian Wighams, Courtney Lowreys....you had a great season. And, to Nick Gonzales....kudos to you....good old hard work does pay off. You made yourself an integral part of this team and contributed so much. And, even in the face of dishonest refs none of you guys ever gave up. What an awesome display by you guys....I now pay attention to high school football because of you.

So, I will be watching again next year guys. And, I will looking forward to the young talent like Anthony Williams, Sterling Stanley, Matt McMahon, Kevin Higgins, Jeremy Boykins. I have a feeling Coach Daniels is very pleased with the team coming back next year.

Coach Stanley was not willing to talk much after this game but he did say, "So many kids came up to him after the game and all they talked about was getting in the weight room and getting ready for next year."

This program will probably finished around 50th in the country. But, truly in South Florida and the state of Florida it would be hard press to find any other program that does it better than the Dwyer Panthers.

Dr. Lee and Coach Daniels you should be proud of your school and your athletics program. The coaches and players have represented themselves well.

Polarizing Tebow

Once again Tebow has the Broncos hopeful....and once again I am anticipating a Bronco game on Sunday.

I did not write about him after last weeks game. But, believe me I watched it. And, I watched the replay. And, while the detractors want to harp on the negative plays I thought Tebow had a complete game. He looked good in the passing and the running game.

Now, I don't know if this, "read option," is going to work in the NFL. But, it did work against the Raiders in the, "Black Hole." I would assume there will be more wrinkles against Kansas City. There will have to be with them coming off of an embarrassing loss to the Dolphins.

Say what you want but he is 2-1 as a starter. And, they look like more of a complete team.

I watched the guys on NFL Network and it was encouraging to see Deion, Dukes, and Sapp say they just like the kid. And, truly what is there not to like. Yep.....there are some not so pretty passes. But, I honestly think that will come.

What I need from Tebow today though is another win. Preferably one like the Raider win. If I can get that then I can watch NFL Network all week. I can watch the Network hype Tebow even more. And, I can watch them sit down with him for a conversation. The NFL needs more Tebows. He is a polarizing figure....love him or hate him.

Please help out the NFL today Tebow and beat KC in KC. And, in the words of Michael Irvin....."If you do that they won't be able to get you out of Denver."

So We Are A Mediocre Team

Not much to be said at this point. Well, yes there is.

The defense held this team to 17 points and our offense couldn't do any better than it did.

Connor Shaw was less than impressive and our QB situation is worst than that. I know with only two games left we are not replacing Brantley. And, after his valiant effort against Georgia I guess we owe him that.

I have definitely grown though. And, this lost doesn't hurt as much. My expectations have been lowered. It's time to prepare for next year. And, that's exciting to me. Brissett continues to impress me. And, he does look like the future of our team.

Our OL is garbage....just garbage. And, Wenger is no SEC OL. No wonder he went to Notre Dame. Xavier Nixon has not lived up to they hype and Halipio....well, he is Halipio.

I hope this is an eye opening season for the entire staff. This is the SEC gentleman. You will have to bring some more of that NFL knowledge to to forefront with these players. Although, I think our defense will be stout next year.

We need tough RBs and physical WRs that can run better routes. Jacoby will get them the ball. And, he is mobile and will avoid a lot of sacks.

Yep, I know I rambled.....but, it's my blog and I am just a girl.

Dywer Tops Royal Palm Beach For District Title

It was close in the first half but as Coach Jack Daniels said on ESPN760 High School Hysteria, "If it weren't for a couple of blown defensive assignments it would have been a shut out.

Dwyer once again proved that they are #1 in the district by putting RPB away in the third quarter.

The first half ended at 10-7 but, I thought if Bauta had hit any of his shots taken downfield the game would not have been that close.

Dwyer's defense made Tremaine McCullough eat his words early and often. McCullough ended the game with 19 carries and 22 net yards. A far cry from the trash he talked a day before the game of teaching "Rude Nation some manners."

Adjustments were made at halftime and Dwyer scored 21 points in the 3rd. Game over. And, Coach Bueno's amazing turnaround from last year stopped at Blum Stadium.

Dwyer RB Courtney Lowery had 76 yards total and most of those came in the 3rd when he had touchdowns of 20 and 36 yards. But, unlike the post said, Courtney has been doing this all season.

Bauta impressed me with his running and his game management. He came away with 115 yards rushing and 123 yards passing. I thought he played within himself and used his strengths.

Coach Stanley, Dwyer's RB coach and Assistant Head Coach said after game:

"We chose to concentrate on game preparation this week instead of all of the foolishness the reporters (I did say reporters not journalist for a reason), decided to print even though the article was riddled with incorrect information and misleading statements.We chose to focus on the district title. That is number 13.Our players came together as we knew they would and jelled as a family.Now on to the playoffs."

That's right William T Dwyer High School. That's 13 straight District titles. I am completely impressed with the record and the coaches who have been there for everyone of those. Congrats Coach Daniels and Coach Stanley.

And, despite what others would like to believe this success comes from hard working and developing these kids. Something Division 1 schools recognized and appreciate.....

And. truly that's all I have wanted for him is to have is a chance. I don't know how he looked in practice but, I do know once the lights come on he gets it.

And, there is no one that is going to out work him.

To get a little spiritual....it is pretty cool that chance will come in the state of Florida where he will have plenty of supporters. Seems like a little devine intervention. Even Pouncey on the Dolphins will be routing for him.

I can watch NFL Network again. Thanks Tebow. I have always believed. You did wonderful things for us at Florida. We in Gatornation will be forever grateful.

But, now it's time to support you. And, I will be one of them with 15 on in the stands on that day!!!

I am once again excited. It really takes awhile to get over the type of losses we have had the last couple of weeks. As you can tell I don't even go to my own blog let alone others.

But, it's another Saturday and I am again wearing my orange and blue sunglasses and thinking we can go into Jordan Hare and take a win.

Here are my keys for the game:

1. Our DL has to show up against what I think is a weaker OL of Auburn.

2. Put Rainey and Demps on the field at the same time. They have to decided which one to cover.

3. Play Gilleslie more. He showed me something against Alabama and LSU. He is a tough runner.

4. Jacoby has to manage the game. I thought he showed great poise against LSU. I look for more of that same pocket presence at Auburn.

There is so much more. But, it's CFB Saturday and I am already nervous as can me.

I don't have much to say today. Reality has set in. We are not at the same talent and physical level as Alabama. It pains me to say.

On a good note. I think we are on our way to being a very good football team.

I think it's best I put the college football game aside for the day.

My prayers go out to John Brantley and his family. He showed what he was made of last night. I was really pleased with his performance. Only one bad mistake.

Former Dwyer Players Very Noticeable On Saturdays....

I have been wanting to do an update on Dwyer players in Division 1 Programs. As I have watched college football this year it is evident that a lot of them are making major contributions around the country.

I think it says a lot for a high school and it's program to continue to produce quality players for the next level.

Elam, Florida #22 Safety

They were swinging on Matt Elam pretty hard in the off season. But, it seems he is really worth all the hype. He has become a leader in this Quinn/Muschamp lead defense. He seems to always be around the ball. And, he brings it every play. I have seen some hard hits by this young man and I am completely impressed. WIth two interceptions in the last two games I think the future is bright for Elam.

Brissett, Florida #17 QB

Jacoby Brissett has played this season. He had a very good Fall Camp and Muschamp praised him quite often. But, in the end Driskell was name the #2 man and it looks like Brissett is headed for a red-shirt. Hopefully there is a battle for #1 next year. Personally I love his pocket presents. He has a live arm suited for a Weis run offense. I look forward to seeing more of him next year.

Maggitt, Tennessee #56 LB

Curt Maggitt seem to be a heavy lean during the Urban Meyer years. But, things changed after his departure and a visit to Tennessee changed his mind. Although he is not a Gator....and as he says, "Everybody can't be a Gator but, yet Gator bait," he is making some noise for sure in Vol country. Now, I know the Vols are not stacked with talent on defense but, for a young man like Curt to come in and earn himself a starting LB position in the SEC is quite impressive.

Bowers, Maryland #91 DE

Keith Bowers has made an impact immediately and seems to be getting a lot of playing time. I could not find any stats on Keith but it was reported by one his coaches that he has recorded his first sack at the next level and he is getting a lot of playing time. Keith was a leader at Dwyer and tenacious on defense. I am looking for the same thing from him at Maryland.

Robert Clark, Florida #81 WR

Robert Clark started the season off with a injured hamstring. But, he is back on the field for Florida and playing consistently on special teams. I thought last year he was really impressive to the Urban Meyer staff and saw the field at WR more. This year it seems to be hard for him to find his groove coming off of the injury. I am hoping he will gain the confidence of coaches in practice and see more than just special teams play in 2011.

Donald Russell, Georgia State #20 RB

Russell made a lot of noise at Kentucky and seem to be on his way there. But, for some reason his success on the field did not translate into more playing time. At Georgia State he doesn't seem to be having that problem. So far at GSU, Russell has rushed for 430 yards on 77 attempts and 4 touchdowns. And, Kentucky can't find a running game. See what you missed Joker....

O'Leary, FSU #35 TE

Nick O'Leary continues to be used more every game for the Seminoles. For awhile there I thought he would end up at Florida. But, despite his choice in schools I am very happy to see him continue to get more touches. He now has a combined 7 catches for 77 yards. He has good hands and is tough to bring down one on one. I also think he runs good routes but will get better as he gets more playing time.

Christian, Florida #32 TE/LB

Gerald Christian has been patient. And, he has voiced his desire to do whatever the team needed. Going into Spring he was going to play TE and then LB and then TE again....now it looks like he has definitely settled in at the TE position. Once AC Leonard went down with a torn meniscus he started to get a lot more reps in practice. And, he has gotten more targets his way in games. He capitalized on those in the KY game. He had a catch on a crucial 3rd down play and caught himself a 42 yard touchdown pass from Brantley on the first play after recovered fumble by the Gator defense. Weis and Muschamp have praised him and seem to indicate there will more to come from this tough TE.

Lewis, Northern Illinois #85 WR

Tommylee Lewis is known for his toughness and quickness. Their plan was to redshirt him but, he got the opportunity to start after a injury to a fellow teammate. He has shown the coaching staff he is capable. In his first game last Saturday he got involved in the offense and caught a 9 yard touchdown pass.

Hunter, Bowling Green #25 DB

Darrell Hunter as a FR has started to contribute. He got his first start last week and from what I read he was pretty impressive. He ended the games with 4 tackles. I am hoping for his sake that this is the beginning of something special in his career. He will get a chance to show more today against WVU.

I am nervous about this one. And, just like last year I am excited about the Bama game on the schedule....and, just like last year I think we can win.

Now, we know how last year turned out. And, who knows what would have happen if we had gone down there and scored on that drive. But, a jump pass by Burton, intercepted by Bama, and our whole team is deflated.

But, a new year and, of course new hopes.

And, I have been thinking all week....when did Alabama take over the SEC like this? Heck, when did they take over CFB? You have to give them credit. Give Saban credit. It's been a pretty good run of a physical NFL caliber defense with a serviceable QB, and tough hard nose RBs.

But, I love our team. And, mid-way through last year I couldn't say that. I love our coaches this year, and I love their language....the teams language....and personality of the TeamMuschamp....just love it!

And, because of that I think we are a destined team. We can beat Bama.

"There is a difference between hoping to win and expecting to win. I promise you we expect to win." Charlie Weis....

They statement alone signifies what every Gator fans are feeling....it's what we are betting on.

This Gator team has talent. And, because of our new coaching staff, they are smart and tough. And, I am tired of hearing how physical and fast Alabama is. As Coach Muschamp said, "Alabama is a good football team but, so are we."

I am banking on all of that. But, I am also banking on this.....

Our DL is physical and Omar Hunter is coming into his own. Jaye Howard is a beast winning the battle with his man more often than not. Floyd and Easely makes us one of the toughest in the country. I think we will compete upfront and not let those backs break off long yards per carry.

I haven't mentioned Powell or our LBs Jelani Jenkins, Jon Bostic, and Larentee McCray. They have the speed to contain. And, Quinn and Muschamp has transformed the play of these guys.

Now, I do think our secondary is young. And, I haven't seen Maze Bama WR play. But, I am banking on that aggressive DL play will lesson the pressure on the young ones in the secondary.

There is one guy that is different from last year and that's Brantley. Yeah, I know I said that....but, he is different. And, he is leading and managing this team. He is smart enough and tough enough this year to keep this close and possibly take us on a winning drive. He has the ability to go down field. And, the X-factor is a healthy Reed, Burton lining up everywhere, and Coach Weis. Yep Coach Weis....this isn't Addazzio thank God. Coach Weis is smart enough to make adjustments throughout the game. Addazzio's adjustments was an additional dive play.

I haven't mentioned Demps and Rainey. And, I can't remember how healthy they were last year. I think Rainey was suspended by then. And, it wasn't long after that when Demps sprained his foot and his production was done. I can't even remember when Sturgis went down.
But, let it be known all three of these players are different this year. All of their careers have been resurrected. And, Weis is using these RBs in the right way. I for one feel they are tough enough to make these TIde boys look stupid.

And, for all this offensive and defensive talk this may come down to Special Teams. And, I would put ours up against anyone's.

And, don't look people but Sturgis is now 10/10 or 11/11. I am not going to check. All I know is he hasn't missed.

Come on Tide....come rolling into the Swamp. I have a sneaky feeling you will find a different team this year....a different effort....and a different result.

I don't why I buy into the hype every week. First, it was UAB and their passing game is going to give us problems. And, then it's Tyler Bray and how he is #1 in the nation in passing tds. Then to top it off I read on many sites that this Kentucky game could be a trap game for us and we will be caught looking ahead to Alabama. I knew in watching the Wildcats this season there was no way they could handle us. But, I let it get to me anyway. Corso and Herbstreit rile me up by saying this game is going to be closer than we think.

But all that is gone now. And, I liked more than I disliked from this game. This team continues to improve.

The defense was exactly what I thought it would be and that's suffocating. I was proud of Elam and Easley. And, Michael Taylor from the second team shows he's not that far away from getting some more playing time.

I thought it was huge to 405 rushing yards and have both Demps and Rainey get over a 100 yards rush. Then in mop up duty Gillislee comes in and gets 84 yards.

Someone post that Gillislee should get the start this week over Rainey and Demps. Which by the way I think is silly. And, Muschamp said, "You are who you are." And, I feel we need to ride those two sub 4.2 speedsters to the end.

I was impressed with the Brantley's throws down field for the most part. I was happy to see his throw to Gerald Christian for a touchdown. And, as I said to Coach Stanley....that play has been wide open for Brantley four straight games and they finally hit it.

I liked how they used Trey Burton. He is a smart and tough player. I hope his role continues to increase. I think he continues to give us so many options and he has power to run between the tackles. And, I am seeing them use Joyer a lot more at FB. We haven't had that option in recent years.

What's still so glaring and so promising is the coaching staff and their involvement....and their enthusiasm. I love watching their reactions. They want to see these guys succeed. And, from where I am sitting they are really giving them all of the tools to do just that.

Now Bama week. And, I have already been reeled in. I can't stop talking about the upcoming game to anyone who will listen. I think we have a good chance of stopping them this year. They have had the best of us for two years straight now. I really hope that changes this weekend.

College Football Week 4

I don't think there were many surprises this past weekend. Maybe Kansas St beating Miami....or Temple putting a whoop azz on Maryland. Go Addazio!

But, LSU beating the Moutaineers was no surprise. I was hoping but, really no surprise.

Bama is for real and they made the Razorbacks look stupid.

Clemson kept it's train rolling and had enough at the end to beat FSU.

And, now FSU can sit down somewhere. We don't have to keep hearing how the time is, "NOW," for the Seminoles and they are all the way back. They can go compete in the ACC for a conference championship. But, no national discussion will be necessary from this point on.

If someone doesn't get this kid in the weight room there won't be any QB controversy. He will get hurt real soon....even a drugstore cotton conference like the ACC.

Boise keeps winning but, I couldn't tell you against who. And, I am sure without looking that Moore threw for over 300 yards. But, since the Georgia game they have been a non-factor because of their weak opponents. And, that alone will keep them out of the BCSCG.

South Carolina looked good on defense. But, Vandy just looked bad to have come into Columbia 3-0. Eventually Garcia is going to cost them a game and Spurrier will go back to Connor Shaw and the revolving door Gator fans know so well will start.

I don't think Oregon will wear the same uniform the entire season. But, the question is can they work themselves back into the BCS discussion.

Oklahoma had a letdown first half but it still wasn't enough to not take care of Missouri.

Oklahoma State spotted Texas A&M 20 points. And the Aggies act like they were the Vikings and gave up consecutive scoring drives without answering and lost the game. I don't know who I am more disappointed in. Aggies or Vikings....I will say McNabb.

The city of Buffalo must be jumping tonight. A comeback win over the Patriots and a lost to Oakland by the Jets. Man Blue Cross/Blue Shield will be interesting tomorrow. I love it....

The Patriots have no defense.

The Vikings are hot garbage and this does not look good for McNabb. He is definitely proving Shanahan right at this point.

Kyle Orton is Kyle Orton. And, at this point they should try Quinn or Tebow. But, Orton has proven not to be a winner. And, at best they will be an 8-8 team. I refuse to follow that team anymore like they are.

And, I don't know what to say about Mike Vick. Maybe....get him a real O-Line. He will not make it through the season.

Also, Manning out has made the Colts/Steelers game an I don't care game. Who would have thought that?

My Observations From Florida v Tennessee

First, this was a good win for the Gators. I think the pressure was on Muschamp to win. The Vols and Dooley do not have the talent that Muschamp was left with by Coach Meyer. Otherwise, there is no way Dooley would start two FR at LB. But, there were some things I think we need to clear up or bring more of in the next game.

I thought Brantley managed the game pretty good. But, I have been reading he does not have any go to guys down field. I don't think that is the case. His missed a wide open Trey Burton and threw it behind him. So, we had to settle for three. And, all of those fade passes to Thompson were garbage. That is not Brantley's strength. Another wasted trip in the redzone. We have to find plays he is comfortable with down field and he has to make those passes.

And, I did not see Christian or AC Leonard being used in the game like Jordan Reed had been. Why? Did they not have packages for them?

Also, what happened to Jeff Demps? He seem to disappear from the game plan. Or was he hurt and just not effective?

All in all though, I thought they did some good things on offense. The redzone is still an issue but, Brantley managed the game and the moment, and made no big mistakes.

Now, Chris Rainey. Wow, what a workhorse! I love his game and his spirit. This seems to be his year and his is sick. He is doing it all for us this year and I think he will continue to see a lot of touches. Rainey for Heisman. And, he will get that type of attention if he does this against LSU and Bama.

Now, the defense. Please get all of them some work on catching the ball. This would not have been close if they had caught half of what they dropped. I love Jelani Jenkins but, he has to do better. Between this game and the UAB game he has dropped at least three interceptions that hit him right in the hands. I was not impressed with Bray's accuracy. Hopefully, all the hype over him will die down.

I did not think our D-line got as much pressure as I thought they would. But, it was obvious that they won the line of scrimmage on a lot of plays. I think our defense is tough though and looks a lot better than last year. And, when these DBs get a little more experience they will be sick.

Just think though if we had Janoris Jenkins.....instead he is in Alabama and won't be heard of until the NFL combine. I hope those blunts were worth it Jenkins.

All in all I am pleased to get the win. I was mad though they squandered so many opportunities and made this close. We can't do that with other SEC teams.

Dwyer v Glades

If you don't know about the game pleased put it in your schedule today. It's the Panthers taking on the Raiders in South Florida today in a huge high school showdown at 4:00pm on ESPN.

Dwyer features two of the best coaches in high school football in Jack Daniels and Reggie Stanley. Two former Gators who have built themselves a national program. Coach Stanley played RB for the Gators and Coach Daniels was a DB. Together as Head Coach and Associate Head Coach they have field one of the most formidable teams in South Florida in recent years. They have also added a state title to that resume.

The Glade Central Raiders are no slouch either. And, they also have a former Gator on staff in Reidel Anthony. These Raiders are considered one of the fastest high school teams in South Florida let alone Palm Beach County. They come in ranked pre-season #22 in the Class 3A in the state. Coach Roosevelt Blackmon is in his first year as head coach and is looking to continue their winning ways and keeping that national ranking.

Now both these sides will say this just another game on the schedule but, that's not true. This is bragging rights. This is the right to say, "Hey man good game," at the end and know we just beat your azz on naitonal TV. This is must see for sure. Don't miss it. My family will be in attendance and watching on ESPN. As a Palm Beach writer said, "This is the biggest game of the season at the beginning of the sesaon."

Now, it wasn't always this way for the Dwyer Panthers. All this exposure, winning seasons, and being the media darlings. You see, when they took over this program, it had 3 wins in 5 years. Daniels and Stanley were questioned for taking it. But, 16 years later I get the feeling they are glad they did. Together they have impacted high school football in the state of Florida.

They place their players in Division 1 programs. They make a difference in the lives of young men and again....they are winning.

When other kids move on to college the word is, "Those Dwyers kids are further along in their weight training and their work ethic than other players." Coach Daniels is known for coaching the DBs and being the operations guy and, Coach Stanley is the RBs Coach and the Weight Training Guru.

Here is a list of some of their success:

Matt Elam, Gerald Christian, Robert Clark, and Jacoby Brissett are all Dwyer graduates that now play for the Florida Gators. But, there are also Curt Magitt Tenn, Nick O'Leary, FSU, Keith Bowers, Maryland, Jamelle James, Alabama A&M, Tommy Lee Lewis, Northern Illinois, Shuebert Bastien, Middle Tenn. St., Darelle Hunter, Bowling Green, and Devante Barnett, Wagner College.

Robert Clark, Gerald Chrisian, Jacoby Brissett, and Matt Elam....all former Dwyer players who are now Florida Gators.

So here we are in 2011 and right off the bat they are on ESPN with a nationally televised game. They also played a nationally televised game last year against Glenville in Ohio. They came away with a lost but, if you had seen that game you would have definitely said, there was some home cooking going on up there.

Here is a look at the controversy that followed that game.

And, although Miami Northwestern dominated the #7 ranked Panthers last week in the Kickoff Classic, (a game that didn't count) I think the Panthers may have a little something up there sleeves. The Panthers themselves have a lot of speed but, they also have size. I am thinking that size and speed could be the difference in this game.

The Panthers have to have some key performances though from their OL. On the left side is key with Patrick Miller LT and Mike Mims LG. And, I hear C Heath Walker needs to have a solid game. They also need to have a solid game from their QB Faton. I am hoping he makes the right reads in this game too. And, I think their RBs have to come to play today. Courtney Lowery, Matt McMohn, Anthony Williams and two FBs, Guage Batton and Jelani will all see time running and blocking today. Also WRs Clint Stevens, Julian Wihghan, and Johnny Dixon need to help stretch the field and come down with some balls. That will relieve some of the pressure off of Faton and really wear down the Raiders. They have to play within themselves and do what they do best. And, in my opinion that is run the ball to set up the pass. (But, then what do I know....I'm a girl)

Glades is picked to win this by most in the media.

But, if the Panthers can get the focus and contribution, they can keep this game close and pull away in the end.

Here is a look at the program at the beginning of the 2009 season. Of course the players names have changed and even some of the coaches. But Daniels and Stanley remain the same.

John Brantley.....I Am Sorry

Coach says, that's the title it should be. Everyone knows how hard I have been on JB during the offseason.

But, I must say he has made an improvement. I thought he looked in control. I thought the team looked organized. They showed heart. And, the defense was vanilla but, tenacious.

Of course I must temper my excited with the type of competition we faced. And, I know the SEC defenses are not going to allow our offense to run the same variation of maybe six plays throughout the whole game. But, what I was looking for I got. And, that is confidence, leadership, togetherness, and execution.

As I said last night, I am in love with Charlie Weiss. He has taken control of the multitude of weapons we have, and made us viable again in the SEC. I liked his interaction with the players on the sideline. I liked all the formations and different personnel running in and out.

Even if some of that was smoke screens and mirrors....I know.

But, back to Brantley....I have to eat crow on this one. I never thought he had it in him. And, I was not pleased with some things yesterday. But, 95% of what he did showed me something.....showed me what he is made of. I think we can go 10-2 with him at the helm...if the line and playmakers stay healthy.

I love our coaches. They showed a level of involvement and professionalism that's been missing since Coach Strong and Coach Mullen left. Coach Muschamp is exactly what this program needed and kudos to AD Foley for righting the ship very quickly.

I saw some good things in Driskel. I am glad he was able to get back out there and show he can play.

I loved our defense. I don't think we showed a lot. And, I pray we have a lot more. I thought the line as a whole was a beast....but again, it was the FAU Owls.

To those who think we have just perimeter runners haven't seen Gilleslie. I think he is a darkhorse for more playing time. Demps and Rainey were outstanding and I hope Weis continues to find ways to use them as teams adjust. Jordan Reed made some tough catches. Trey Burton didn't play much after the sore ribs but, you can tell he will be used a lot. I loved the play of Gerald Christian and I think we will see more success from this TE. I liked the FB Hunter Joyer and his blocking. And, speaking of blocking Debose, Thompson, and Dunbar were outstanding in this area.

It was a good first game. And, now of course Gatornation wants more. I am thinking we will move into the Top 20 with that performance.

I told everyone we were ranked to low. And, now it's time for these players to realize their potential.

College Football - Week 1

Oregon v LSU

I thought the Ducks would take this with all the problems flying around the Tiger program. But, again, the Ducks have their own off the field issues too. But, once again Miles had his team ready. I saw no drop off in QB play with Jarrett Lee. And, of course Coach Miles always has the horses on defense and on the lines. Couple that with their speed everywhere and, again Oregon was no match for this SEC team either.

Boise State v Georgia

Let me just say....anything short of Coach Richt going undefeated the rest of the way and he will no longer be in Athens. I think Dawg fans have had enough of mediocre results. I expected the Broncos to win this game but, I did think it would be closer. But, once Boise State figured them out late 2nd Qtr it was over. And, Georgia's defensive speed was no match for Boise. I like what Kellen Moore brings. He is precise. I wonder how that will translate to the next level. And, something completely not football related I like that he got married over the Summer....cute story. But, once again Boise has put itself in the conversation. But, as always they go back to there boring pancake schedule now and really have no competition. That in itself will keep them out of the national picture. You gotta give them credit for continuing to schedule quality non-conference opponents. But, Boise if you want someone to take you more serious you will have to leave the conference you're in.

Other notes....

I could have cared less what Ohio State did yesterday. They are an embarrassment to college football right now. I thought Michigan showed signs of looking tougher. But, they really should have put Western Michigan away. They never did. Auburn is hot garbage on defense. South Carolina will find it tougher next week when they go to Athens. The Dawgs need this and will pull out all the stops. The Gamescocks took ECU too lightly and thought Connor Shaw was ready. Practice doesn't count Connor. So, in came the functioning drunk to save the day. I am not impressed with them and their pre-season ranking. And, need I say again, "They have a chicken as their mascot." And, speaking of being unimpressed....there is FSU. It was late in the 2nd Qtr and they had only 7 points on ULM. The OL didn't look good either. They have one more game to get ready for Oklahoma.

Three Days Away

Needless to say I am excited the college football season is upon us.

Everyone that knows me also know my tempered excitement for a really good season from my Gators.

I can't wait to see how they look on FAU. I don't care about the score so long as we win and win by 65 and look good....(so much for not caring about the score huh?)

But, make no doubt I watched every video out there on how everyone is doing. I must say I am please with what I am hearing from the players and the coaches. Now, it's time though. And, as Charlie Weiss says, 'The first open book test is Saturday." (OMG, I'm quoting Charlie Weiss)

This team has so much potential though. I just can't see them not coming out on fire and coming out and showing college football #22 is way too low.

But, I am a Gator...and I wear these orange and blue sunglasses a lot.

Mayor Of Philadelphia Has Strong Words

I found this on a Gator website where the title was, "If A White Conservative Had Said This." This Mayor is so to the point on this I wouldn't have cared who said it.

The violence that is going on in Philadelphia right now is ridiculous. And. in this video the Mayor calls out the parents and the gang members.

I am especially fond of the point he drives home to pull down your hoodies in the middle of the Summer, pull up your pants, and buy a belt. No one wants to see your underwear and or the crack of your butt.

Good stuff....we more accountable parents and mentors.

Palmer will offer a live look at numerous aspects of training camp across multiple ESPN platforms at least once an hour beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Shows include SportsCenter, First Take and College Football Live. ESPN.com will also provide a live stream of all of his appearances. In addition to Palmer, ESPN.com writer Chris Low will be on-site writing a behind-the-scenes blog throughout the day.

My heart goes out to Tebow and the QB situation.
Welcome to the business side of life Tim. This is where adulthood really takes over. What puts me at peace is your faith. This will all work out. We don't have to continue to boo Orton's every move. What is to be is already written. Go Gators!!! And, Go Broncos!!

Who had the best HOF Speech. It's sad to day, I never appreciated any of these athletes. Maybe Marshall Faulk and Richard Dent. But, I thought Deion was too flashy and Sharpe just had a big mouth....literally.

But, I thought both Sharpe and Sanders really brought to life their struggles of being poor and wanting to take their families to the next level. That I applaud them for. And, I love the bond that was so obvious between Sterling and Shannon.

Sad to see Moody cut by the Buffalo Bills. I hope he gets another chance.

Conversation With 2012 Recruit Ralph Andrades

I have been promising a conversation write up on Ralph Jr. for about two weeks now. I finally buckled down and got it done.

It was truly an honor to talk to Raphael Andrades. What a intelligent young man. And, for what I have been hearing not a bad football player either.

Ralph Andrades Jr, is ranked #99 by ESPN and #84 by Rivals at the WR position and climbing. He is 6'0 and 195. And, one of the things I love is he has his GPA in order at 3.67.

Andrades is a 2012 recruit coming out of Tallahassee Lincoln in Tallahassee, Florida. His position coach is none other than one of my favorite Gators, Jacquez Green.

On a side note I had to pause and tell Andrades that I just watch his coach on youtube make that spectacular catch to help ruin the National Championship run by the Seminoles in 1997. And, literally, I cried. There is nothing better than beating your arch rival. And, ruining their chances to play for a national championship is even better...just icing on the cake," I said to him. I also told him I was at that game and even though I was in my teens at the time, we celebrated for awhile.

So, he allowed me to rave about a Gator period. He made sure to tell me that Coach Green speaks of that game and that catch quite often.

Ralphael Andreades at the Swamp and FNL

I discovered this, "flying under the radar," WR through his dad on Twitter. He was tweeting about his son doing the recruiting, camp, and 7-7 trail this Spring and Summer. I became interested once he tweeted his son was visiting the Seminoles, and then subsequently the Gators. I have followed his son's progress since that day. I have also watched a lot of highlight tape on Jr. and I am thoroughly impressed. I actually told him he reminds me of a Calvin Johnson, who had great hands and just seem to tower of opposing DBs at the college level.

Ralph Jr seems to do the same thing on the high school level.

The word is Andrades has great hands. He runs great routes and has very good footwork. The improvement needs to come in his 40 time from my understanding. . Andrades admits he has never been able to just run fast unless there is someone challenging him....in other words, "trying to catch him." And, I must admit in all the tape and video on this recruit I didn't see anyone catch him. And, he did gain separation on a lot of those plays and catches.

And, I like this athlete so much I wanted to write about him. I don't know if we can ever get enough of those kids/students who are doing it the right way. And, I think Andrades is doing just that. He plays two sports, excels in the classroom, and seems to be a very mannerable and respectful person.

Here is a recap of our conversation.....

How long have you been playing football?

I have been playing since I was four. And, I played QB. I didn't have a big brother in the family. I am an only child. But, my Dad got me started early.

What are some of you goals this year?

To get better. Coach Green has me working on my routes. I would like to have more yards and catches this year.

I watched your highlight tape and you remind me of Calvin Johnson. Do you know who he is and what do you think of his play?

Yes I know who that is. He played for Ga Tech. I liked his game.

When did you decide that you could play receiver?

I played QB all of my life. But, the coaches came to me and told me I could play on Varsity if I changed to WR, so I did.

Are you visiting any schools? Where are you taking your official visits.

Yes I am, I don't know where yet. I would like to take one to Florida though.

What do you think of this whole recruiting process?

It hasn't been that bad. I don't have anything to compare it too though.

So in a perfect world where would like to go to school?

I mean I would love it if Florida offered. I have always been a Gator fan. I could see myself going there. I hope they do offer. I will just keep playing and working hard.

What do you think of Arkansas? And Bobby Petrino?

It's the SEC and I am excited to have an offer from a team in the best college football conference. I have dealt with Coach Robinson so I haven't had much contact with Coach Petrino.

Did you have fun at FNL?

I loved the atmosphere, I loved being in the swamp, it was great competition and it gave me a chance to get better and show the coaches we can play. I talked to Coach Hill.

This young man has offers from Arkansas, Florida International, Illinois, Middle Tenn State, Vanderbilt, and Stanford. This is not a bad list at all. And, he picked up and offer from Middle Tenn State since we talked last.

Rivals scouting report....
The best way to sum up Andrades is like this: While he isn't flashy, he's a very good receiver who does a lot of things well. He has good speed and knows how to separate from defensive backs. He also owns good hands. Andrades has a solid build, too.

Here is what FloridaProspects.com had to say:

Athleticism: 4.0

Andrades is by no means a blazer as far as speed is concerned, but he is fast enough to play at the next level. He also has the athletic ability to be a very good route runner when he dedicates himself to it. He appears strong enough to get off of a jam already which is very good for a young receiver.

Field Presence: 5.0

Andrades has a great feel for the game in that he knows how to get open. He sits downs in zones at the right spot and is very good at getting defensive backs to open up their hips. Raphael also attacks the ball at its highest point when it is in the air which is a trait you love to not have to teach a receiver.

Potential: 4.5

Andrades has the skill set to become a good possession receiver at the next level he has decent size good hands and plays well in traffic. If he can learn to block like he is capable of he is a solid receiver and will contribute to a team at the next level.

Stature: 4.3

While 6 feet 1 is nothing to sneeze at it’s not great size for a receiver with his skill set. He already has a college-ready body as fare as size goes because he is already at his target weight for his height at 200 lbs.

Technique: 3.1

Doesn’t run great route, but what young receiver (Other than former DP WR Kenny Shaw) does? We would like to see him become a better blocker so he can be considered somewhat of a complete player.

No matter what, I am sold on Ralphael. Too bad I don't have a say so or I would be in Charlie Weis's ear. Where ever he goes though I am sure he will make an impact.

Thanks Raphael for letting me into the life of an athlete. And, tell your Dad thanks for allowing me to ge to know you. A great family indeed.

True freshman Jacoby Brissett, from Dwyer High School, has some ground to make up as he battles red-shirt freshman Tyler Murphy and freshman Jeff Driskel for the No. 2 quarterback job. Murphy and Driskel both went through spring practices under new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, while Brissett’s first practice was today.
But Brissett does not appear to be lagging behind.
“Just after one day, very pleased with where he is,” Muschamp said. “He certainly has a certain command about him. He’s a guy that is very well respected by his teammates. He’s an outstanding athlete, but he can really throw the football.”

– As for the other freshmen, Muschamp was impressed by TE A.C. Leonard, WR Ja’Juan Story, RB Hunter Joyer, CB Marcus Roberson, CB Loucheiz Purifoy, OG Trip Thurman and LB Graham Stewart.

– He said there was “very good retention” of the system and playbook by the older players and “some decent retention” among the younger ones.

– One guy who looked comfortable was RB Jeff Demps, which is somewhat surprising given that he missed spring practices and was not around much in the summer due to track competitions.
“He looked great, actually. Really good,” Muschamp said. “The players are able to really work with each other in the off-season. The quarterbacks and running backs were getting together on their own on their own time. Really constructive learning as far as those things are concerned. I thought he looked great this morning.”

– Deonte Thompson and Quinton Dunbar have been the two best vertical threatsamong the receivers, but junior Frankie Hammond has been the most complete.
“He’s been our most consistent receiver,” Muschamp said. “What I said was Quinton and Deonte have been our most vertical threats down the field, big-play receivers. They were more of our vertical guys down the field. But Frankie consistently has been our best receiver as far as catching the ball, finishing plays, blocking — all-around receiver play.”

– He probably will not know how good his pass rush is until Florida actually starts playing games. The force of the pass rush looks like it will be LB/DE Ronald Powell, DT Sharrif Floyd, DT Dominique Easley and DE William Green.

Once I found out the announcement was Friday night at 7pm, I wondered what were the teams he was considering. When I discovered it was between Florida and Tennessee I truly said, "It's a wrap." There is no way that kid is going to Tenn amid all of their confusion when he could come to Florida and play under this set of coaches and truly no scandal.

Well, I actually watched the livestream and I heard him say, "Truly Florida is the only school I was seriously considering. It just felt like home."

Well put young man. And, welcome to the family.

I hear that Brantley showed lots of confidence. Well, he needs to and I am pulling for him. I really hope this team comes together nicely over the next 30 days.

Gatornation is anticipating so much. As I was telling someone on Twitter. I have had my ups and downs with my NFL teams. But, with my Gators my loyalty had never wavered.

Gators Picked To Be Third In The East

Of course as a Gator fan that really burns me. But, after the showing last year should we in Gator Nation really have expected anything else?

I say all the time now....we were spoiled with the likes of Tebow, Harvin, Ingram, Leak, Murphy, Spikes, Haden, Wright, Cooper, Nelson.....and I could truly go on. And, as fans the more success we had the more we wanted. And, we must admit Gatornation, we got pretty arrogant there for awhile. National Championships everywhere forced us to rename Gainesville...."Titletown." And, then.....

Well, reality really has set in. And, even though we saw the track team and women's tennis pick up National Championships this Spring. And, the Softball and Baseball team make it to the final championship series, it did not and does not satisfy us, We are accustomed to so much more.

So here we are with the 2011 season about to approach us and we still have more questions than answers. We have gone from saying, "We are headed to the SEC Championship again," to, "I really hope this team can put it all together."

South Carolina is picked #1 and it burns me to say it but, they probably should be. They have experience and talent at a lot of key positions. I hate em....I know longer feel sorry for them. They have turned the "always find a way to lose," attitude into a winning season.

Georgia is picked second. And, my disdain for them has been well documented. I think Murray is a really good QB. And, he showed flashes of brilliance as a freshman. But, I am suspect of their O-line. I have come to expect the lineman to blow out their knees in the Spring. And, again this Spring that happen. They also loss one to transfer....and the list could on. And, their RB situation just seems to have imploded right front of us all. So, their LB Richard Samuel, once a RB, now a RB again is #1 on their depth chart. But, still they are picked to take second in the east. Burns me.....

That really says a lot about what they (the media) think of the Gators. Heck, I am even suspect of my Gators. I have tried all Summer to have confidence in Brantley but, I still have none. But, I do have hope. And, I would love for him to have the biggest turn around of anyone in 2011. I searching for all the information I can on Charlie Weis and what he doing with this offense. I am seriously social network stalking him. I am hanging on his every statement. And, truly I have never liked Coach Weis. But, I like him now. And, if he can turn this offense and the mind of Brantley around I will ask him to leave his wife and marry me. (Well, now that's a little drastic) but, I think you guys get what I mean.

Wow, I think I have completely digress.

So, here we are with Brantley. He has the tools but, can he do it? We have these talented WRs that most in the media say will not fit into a Pro Style Offense. I say, "There is no way the talent of Quinton Dunbar, Andre Debose, Omarius Hines, Frankie Hammond, and yes Deonte Thompson won't transpose to the field. There is no way that type of talent can't adjust and make plays." And, I have not even mentioned Trey Burton and Jordan Reed. I haven't mentioned Gerald Christian. Again, there is just no way Coach Weis doesn't find something within this talent pool to put us back into the national scene.

Also, I thought Chris Rainey looked so good at the end of the season. I expect to see him in the slot. I think Jeff Demps will be back. I love what I hear about the FB Hunter Joyer. I haven't mentioned Mack Brown or Mike Gillislie at RB. Again, the talent pool is there.

I don't know much about out offensive line. I know Robey has the experience and a lot of time with Brantley at Center. I know there is a transfer, (Red Shirt SR) from Notre Dame. And, there is Xavier Nixon and Ian Silberman.

Digress again, I think.

So, my point is....I just don't see us failing. I just don't see us finishing 3rd. Maybe that's the positive thinking.

But, the media has us losing to Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, and FSU. I overheated just typing that sentence.

I think enough of our defensive talent and the new coaches to think they will make an impact in every game. These guys were young last year but, I think theywill all have breakout seasons.

We won't lose to Alabama, LSU, and Auburn. Of course I think Alabama looks tough. Hate them too. I think the Tigers have the talent. I just think Jefferson has not been consistent. And, I think Auburn has just lost too much. I think we can shut down South Carolina and Georgia and score on them both. If we win those two games we will beat Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. That puts us back into the SECCG.

Order will be restored in the world at that point.

Rivals takes a look at the top recruits after they have performed at their university and moved on. Hence, a re-ranking. Of course my problem comes with the re-ranking of the 2006 season. Yes, Tebow is #1 as he should be. But, who is missing Gatornation? And, can you believe he is missing?

That's right Percy Harvin. How can you leave and All SEC, 2 National Championship, 1st Round NFL Draft, and NFL Rookie of the Year off. And, his production was done in three years. I see the numbers of Maclin and Spiller.

But, I say to Rivals and whoever came up with this ranking.....Maclin played in the Big 12 and Spiller in the ACC. They both were the go to guys and the man on their teams. And, there return numbers were also included.

Harvin played on a team with Tebow, so he was not the focal point of the offense. And, let's not forget he played on a team with Dallas Baker and Bubba Caldwell his first year and was SEC Freshman of the Year. He later played with Louis Murphy, Riley Cooper, Cornelius Ingram, Aaron Hernandez, and David Nelson. All now in the NFL.

It really hasn't been a secret, but Melbourne trinity Episcopal safety Marcus Maye finally made it public when he told everyone on Monday, July 18, he was committed to Florida. Florida's top target at free safety drove up to Gainesville with his mother and coach and talked with the Florida coaches about the decision. We caught up with him before he left campus and he talked about it all on video.

Marcus Maye was certainly a huge target for the Florida Gators and he has known that for a long time. He also told us that he was glad to get the process over and has been sure where he wanted to go for quite some time as well.

The athletic, speedy, physical, and intelligent Maye is a natural in front of the camera and talks about why he chose Florida, how the commitment went down, and who else he wants to be a Gator with him in this exclusive video interview shortly after committing to the coaches.

True freshman Clay Burton comes in at a surprising 252 pounds. He is already at a weight that will allow him to play the strong side defensive end position in college. We will find out if that is good weigh, but if he has the work ethic of his brother, there is little doubt that Burton has been doing his business in the weight room.

Rivals reports on Rhaheim Ledbetter

When former Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes arrived in Gainesville with the rest of the Class of 2006, he was one of the most highly rated prospects in the nation. When his cousin arrives at UF in the Class of 2012, he won't be as highly rated, but he will be every bit as motivated to become the same kind of difference maker.



Rhaheim Ledbetter is the No. 25 rated safety prospect in the nation

On Friday afternoon Boiling Springs (N.C.) Crest three-star safetyRhaheim Ledbetter decided to follow a family tradition by pledging his commitment to the Florida Gators.

"I called Coach Muschamp and Coach Durkin this morning to tell them I was committing to Florida," Ledbetter said. "They told me they were fired up and excited that decide to commit today. They told me that Florida got better today by me committing."

This decision wasn't an easy one for the Crest prospect as South Carolina came on strong late.

"South Carolina really came on late and strong trying to get me to commit to them," explained Ledbetter. "It was really tough. One of the toughest decision I have ever had to make."

A couple of things played into this decision for the 5-foot-11, 190 pound Ledbetter.

"Florida just had the best coaching staff and I felt the most comfortable with them. I had to pick a place that would like to live for three to four years and Florida is the place for me. Also with Coach Muschamp being a defensive guy was huge as he will also be one of my position coaches. To have your head coach as your position coach is huge to me."

Had A Conversation With Patrick Miller

Patrick Miller is considered one of the Top OL Prospects in the country. ESPN has him at #30 and Rivals has him at #27. He is coming up on his Sr year at Dwyer High School in Palm Beach, Florida. And, offers from Div 1 Schools are flowing in.

As he puts it. "I have gradually become a big deal. It was not an overnight success."

At 6'7, and 280 pounds and great technique, Miller is undoubtedly moving up the rankings. As of this Spring and Summer he no longer flying under the radar.

He says, "I can bench press 350 and squat 500. And, I have a vertical of 30 inch."

This is what Coach Stanley has to say about Miller....

I think Patrick is really good LT. I think the quality that he has as a big man you can't teach. He has intangibles that you can't teach. I think that it's very rare that you find a kid that is 6'7 that can bend at the knees like he does. I think he is a technician that spends a lot of time perfecting his skills. And, his technique will give him an advantage over other kids that he meets, and will go up against. With the wing span that he has, he is already at an advantage. And, then you couple that with the fact that he is aggressive and he perfects his craft, it makes him unique. He reminds me of the Pounceys twins. He has that same aggression. Miller wants to bury somebody just like the Pounceys. The sky is the limit with the type of skills, body, and aggression that Patrick has.

Well, I had a chance to speak with him on Monday, and see how he is doing, and find out what he is doing over the Summer. I also got a chance to ask about his recruiting process and who does he consider to be in his Top Five.

Here is what he had to say.....

1, How did you like Oregon and that whole experience?

I loved it! I had a great time. It was some of the best talent in the country. The top 150 were invited. We got to work on technique and practice against each other at a high level.

2, Who impressed you from the camp?

There were so many there that were good, it would be hard to choose. There was some of the best in the country and it was good just to be there.

3. What did you take away from the camp?

I learn how to study film. We would practice it on the field and then go inside and look at it on film.

4. Who has made the biggest impact on you at Dwyer?

They have all made an impact on me. But, Coach Quis has meant a lot to me. He works out with me almost every day. Also Coach Daniels has taught me a lot. And, Coach Stanley is in the weight room with me everyday pushing me.

5. When did you become settled on LT. I hear you came in to Dwyer wanting to play TE.

Yes, I came in wanting to play TE. But, the coaches all said, they wanted me to play tackle. And, my coaches are laughing at me right now as I am talking you.

6. I hear that Coach Stanley is the workout guru. Is he the beast that everyone makes him out to be?

He is really good in pushing us and getting us to work on what we need. He also works out with his and does the same workout we do. He even runs the stadiums with us. But, he never tries to show us up.

7. When would you like to make a decision about your recruiting?

I am going to make it when it all clicks to me on a visit. I am hoping that is before I start my Senior season. But, I will know right away when I get that feeling.

8. Who is your top five right now?

North Carolina, Oklahoma, Florida, Miami will definitely get visits. I am also considering Auburn and LSU. I think that is more than five.

9. Why North Carolina?

It is the mystique of Chapel Hill. I want to go and visit for myself.

10. I hear your Dad really likes LSU. Is that true?

Yes, he really liked it up there. He and Coach Miles really hit it off. You can tell when I talk to him about LSU he seems to lean that way.

11. Have you met Charlie Weis? And, what did you think of him?

Yes, I have and of course I was impressed with him. I mean it's Charlie Weis. But, he was easy to talk to. It was cool.

12. Do you have a #1 or a leader right now.

No, I don't have a leader right now.

In talking to Patrick I found him to be very pleasant young man.

What's important to note hear for me, is there is no mention of Florida State at all. He took a visit but I don't think they are on his radar after that. Just the opinion of the blog though.

Also, it's important to note that Coach Miles from LSU told Miller that he is his #1 recruit. Not #1 OL but, number one overall. Okay, you can read into that what you want. But, from this writer's perspective Miller is good. But, Coach Miles leaves a lot for the imagination.

Some Thoughts....

Wow, I hear my 4th of July post caused some controversy. Let me just say, that post was about my family and the wonderful things this country has afforded us. The wonderful experiences being an American has afforded. It was a tribute to my family and the quirky things we eat and come up with. It was about our backgrounds as Gators and being avid fans.

Now, the names have been changed a little to protect the innocent. I'm sorry if it got someone or some people in an uproar, or a little confused.
Coming from a legal standpoint though it's never good to just make assumptions.

I love that so many read my blog though and respond. Wouldn't keep posting without you.

What Will Happen At the Tight End Position?

I keep hearing a lot about AC Leonard. I have already gotten to see what Jordan Reed will do. And, the talks of Gerald Christian making an impact are increasing. And, Mike McFarland and 4* recruit will transfer. So, what is going to happen at this position.

I don't think we will see the TE used like it was with Aaron Hernandez. He was just a match up problem on the field. I look to see him make even a bigger impact in the NFL. I think if he had stayed healthy last year he could have won NFL Offensive ROY. Although, he had some stiff competition with that on his on team.

But, back to the TEs on the roster. It's good that Leonard got be there for the Spring. I am routing for him for a couple of reasons. First, he is a hometown kid out of Jacksonville, and University Christian. And, second because he picked the Gators.

Here is the scout on Leonard:

Leonard is one of the best at tight end in the country. He can really stick his routes and he catches the ball very well with his hands away from his body. He is a fluid big man that can get down field. He is only 6-foot-2, so his height could hold him back after college, but he should be a star on the next level. He needs to work on his blocking, firing off the ball, and driving his man off the ball, but he is elite overall. - Chad Simmons

In looking at him I think he has a great TE body. And, from what I hear he wasn't overwhelmed in Spring Ball. If he picks up the offense even further over the Summer it will be hard to keep him off the field.

So much has been said of Gerald Christian since the new staff has gotten there. He was going to play LB. He was going to do both TE/LB. Now, it seems he will be settled back at TE.

Here is his scouting:

Christian is an elite athlete at his size. He has great body control for someone pushing 6-4 and 245 pounds. He can make adjustments on balls and he looks natural when running in the open field. For his size, he is not the blocker expected, but that will come in time. He just needs to work on his technique off the tackle and he will be a total package tight end. His combination of hands, size, and athleticism make him elite.

From what I have seen that blocking has improved. He is even heavier now and seems to be carrying the weight well. I am curious to see what he does in this Weis offense. Is he quicker off the ball now? Has a year made a difference?

Jordan Reed without a doubt has been my favorite. He will be a red shirt Jr this year. And, I guess he has been my favorite because he has shown a willingness to do anything for the team. He came in as a QB but, you could see flashes last year of a very good TE. He reminds me the most of Aaron Hernandez. And, isn't it amazing that Hernandez made us forget about Cornelius Ingram? And, what a TE he was for us.

Played in 12 games with four starts…Missed the season opener against Miami University with a right knee injury that hampered him throughout training camp, as well…Started vs. Tennessee, Alabama, LSU and Penn State…Had six catches for 79 yards (13.2 average) and one touchdown and gained 335 rushing yards on 77 attempts (4.4 average) and five touchdowns…Rushed for a team-high 75 yards and completed eight of 13 passes for 60 yards in the Gators’ win over Penn State in the Outback Bowl…

I was thinking that this TE starting position would be his to lose this year. But, with the changes from a Spread to a Pro Style it may affect him the most. I think he is a hybrid TE for sure. But, I hope they use his talents. I think they owe it to him to get him noticed and NFL ready. He has all the tools and he is humble.

Here is what one coach had to say about the three TEs:

I think that Christian and Leonard will thrive because they can catch as well as block.
I think that with the type of offense that has been installed it will be more suited to the larger TE's.
They will not need the TE to go vertical or ask do things like an H-Back. They have already said that they was pulling Gerald Christian off of defense unless they really need him.
I hope he (Christian) can shorten his first step so that he can get off quicker and be a more of a versatile TE. Reed will see the feel a lot too. I just think the bigger TEs will be more successful.

I really don't know much about the Pro Style Offense and I watch a lot of NFL. Maybe I should say I don't pay attention the Xs and Os of the game. I am a girl you know. But, I know enough to know we have three of the best TEs in the country. I hope we use them right.

Also, this team is loaded. I keep thinking about that. Coach Meyer did not leave the cupboard bare. If we can get a game manager we could have a really good season.

What Is John Brantley Doing This Off Season?

Seriously, what is he working on? And, what does he need to work on? I don't know how you build a fierce competitor at this point.

And, to me that's all he needs.....is some....well, you know. I'm a girl so I can't say. And again, my parents read this blog.

But, coming into last year I was so sold on John Brantley. And, granted things didn't just fall into place with Pouncey and the bad snaps from the first game on. But, I saw nothing from Brantley last year that would make me think he can be a Div 1 QB....let alone play in the SEC against. He was scared and, it's hard to regain your teammates confidence after such a debacle.

Now, I know we need to put a lot of this in the laps of Coach Meyer and Coach Adazzio. But, again, I did not see any fight in Brantley. And, the bigger the game, it seems the bigger the failure.

So, that begs the question what is he doing this Summer? And, what is Weis doing with him? I have asked to speak to Charlie so that he could calm me down. But, so far he hasn't return my calls, nor has he sent word to me to say, "Yay or Nay," on sitting down with me.

So, I am left to wonder and to vent to any of my friends who will listen. And, thanks to all the have allowed me to without complaint.

Now....I hear he has picked up the playbook the quickest. I also hear that Sports Psychologist are on hand. (Of course my first thoughts is that's that Nick Saban junk). But, if it works I am forever grateful.

Again, I left to wonder if he has picked up the playbook the best and he fails....then what. How long do we give him? And, please readers...you guys know I want him to succeed. He succeeds and Gator Nation can breathe.

So, is he working with Weis? And, I know NCAA rules. But, really, we are in desperate times. I can't go through another College Football Season like last year. I stopped watching College Football Live completely after the Miss State game....completely.

And, let's address Brantley one more time. He has an arm. He has the intelligence. So, what is it? Is he scared? Is being the go to guy too much for him? My answer to the latter two is yes, he is.

I don't think he ever got to a second or third read before dropping to the ground.

So, really how can he improve so much by Fall this year. If he does it will be the biggest miracle ever....ever!!!

And, what about Tyler Murphy? He looked decent in the Spring Game. I hear he hasn't grasp the offense yet. And, where is Jeff Driskell...boy wonder? And, what about Jacoby Brissett? What is he going to do? Is he the x-factor? Can he really come in this Summer and be noticed at all.

I have now accepted the fact that there was no way we lose a Charlie
Strong and 11 eventual started in the NFL and come back with a 11-1 or 10-2 season. I was dreaming. And, I wouldn't have mine a 8-5 season if we had more fight than we did. But, to score less than 10 points to Miss State, South Carolina and FSU was just embarrassing.

At this point....someone from the coaching staff needs to talk to me. I would even take a heart to heart with Brantley. I have enough fight and tenacity for the both of us. I can give him some. I want an undefeated reason. What is Brantley doing this Summer to get it for me?

For the 17th straight year, Stanford takes home the top spot in the Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings with 1550.25 total points. The Cardinal most recently finished ninth in
baseball.

Ohio State took home second place with 1277.05 total points.
With its fifth place showing in baseball, California moved into third with 1219.50 points.

The Gators of Florida jumped into fourth after a second place finish in the College World Series.
Rounding out the top five is Duke with 1171.50 points.

Our baseball didn't win. So, of course I boycotted sports and my blog for a few days. Really, I need a new hobby. I live and die with the success and failures of our program.

Thanks to all of my blog fans who write me daily about different topics. Gator Nation is the best.

And, thanks to Elaine from Palm Beach County Gator Club. I can't wait to meet you guys.

So, what do we do now?

I can't get into MLB like my Minn Twins fan is. He is just way out there.

So, as I told Coach Stanley, I need Coach Weis to call me and tell me what he is doing to ensure John Brantley's success. Otherwise, I will need therapy the entire season.

More football transfers....Let's look at that:

Janoris Jenkins - Muschamp had no choice. He could not keep a player who disrespected the program the way Jenkins did.

Michael Blakely - From my understanding he never adapted to the new coaching staff. He did not want Stan Drayton to go. And, then surgery put him behind. He did not rehab well. He moped and gain weight. So, what was his second choice last year, (Auburn) became his first choice. Good luck to him. I like Muschamps approach. No restrictions. Go where you want. Either you play for us and you lose against us.

McFarland - This makes sense. He is on a team where the depth chart really full at TE. If he wants to make a name for himself...he needs to transfer.

Chris Martin - Well, he transferred from Cali last year. And, obviously he is still not settled in his mind or heart. Good luck to ya.

Chris Dunkley - He wouldn't go to class. What else could they do. I hope he decides to do something with a scholarship if he gets the opportunity. A free education is nothing to take lightly

Javares McRoy - Again, a stack of players at his position with more coming in at WR. I think he could tell right away he wouldn't get playing time in Weis's offense.

Wow, I really got off track.

I still need something to do while I wait on the Fall season. Give me some ideas readers.

They were introduced to the Pistons fans and organization today. Of course I will be a fan of the Pistons now. Just like I became a fan of the Bulls, Timberwolves, and Hawks, when Noah, Brewer, and Horford were drafted. I wish Vernon well as he takes the next step in his basketball career.

Many Come Out To Pay Tribute To Godfrey Myles

One of our own is no longer with us. Godfrey Myles was laid to rest on June 25, 2011 in Miami, Florida. It's been reported that many of his teammates from the Gators and the Dallas Cowboys attended the services.

I didn't know much about Godfrey. But, at 42 years old, he is gone way too soon.

He was placed on life support in Florida, where he suffered the heart attack. He later passed away. Myles, was selected by the Cowboys in the third round of the 1991 NFL draft, after being named ALL-SEC in his senior year at the University of Florida, Myles started 11 games in 1995, his best season, posted a career high with 75 tackles, intercepting a pass, forcing a fumble and recovering two fumbles,

The Miami native played for the University of Florida from 1987-1990. He served as team captain. He played six years with the Cowboys, earning three Super Bowl rings. He retired after the 1996 season.

Found This List of Top Backcourt Players For The 2011-12 Season

1. Harrison Barnes, North Carolina, sophomore – Barnes got off to a slow start after becoming the first freshman in history to earn preseason All-American honors. Still, overall, he was hardly a disappointment with a team-high 15.7 scoring average. Don’t be shocked if he improves more than any player in the country this season and goes as high as No. 1 in the 2012 NBA draft.

2. Austin Rivers, Duke, freshman – Nolan Smith and Kyrie Irving are gone, but the Blue Devils don’t think they’ll experience much slippage thanks to the arrival of Rivers, the No. 1-ranked prospect in the Class of 2011 by Rivals.com. Rivers operates with more of a scorer’s mentality than Irving, who could do just about everything at a high level.

3. Jordan Taylor, Wisconsin, senior – Taylor averaged 18.1 points last season. He reached double figures in all but two games and was easily one of the top three or four guards in the country. Taylor averaged just one turnover in 36 minutes per game. With standout forward Jon Leuer gone, Wisconsin will need to find someone to help Taylor on the offensive end.

3. Marquis Teague, Kentucky, freshman – Even if Brandon Knight had opted to return for his sophomore season, Teague still likely would’ve been the Wildcats’ primary ballhandler. Much like his older brother, Jeff, Marquis is a speedster who can change directions and is equally effective with both hands. Considering the talent that will surround him, Teague won’t have to score much to have an impact.

4. John Jenkins, Vanderbilt, junior – There may not be a better 3-point shooter in the country than Jenkins, who led Vanderbilt with a 19.5-point scoring average last season. The 6-foot-4 Jenkins had 14 games in which he made four or more shots from beyond the arc. With Festus Ezeli and Jeffery Taylor also returning, the Commodores could open the season in the top 10.

5. Doron Lamb, Kentucky, sophomore – Often overshadowed by Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones, Lamb was one of the biggest keys to the Wildcats’ Final Four run last season. He averaged 12.3 points as a freshman off the bench and connected on 48.3 percent of his 3-point attempts. His production should improve immensely in 2011-12.

6. Tu Holloway, Xavier, senior – The Musketeers won the Atlantic 10 thanks mainly to Holloway, who averaged 5.4 assists along with his team-high 19.7 points. Holloway, though, needs to cut down on his turnovers. He committed 3.4 a game last season. He also shot just 34.5 percent from beyond the arc.

7. Will Barton, Memphis, sophomore – The Tigers were thrilled when Barton announced he was returning for his sophomore season. After declaring prior to his freshman year that Memphis would win the NCAA title, Barton experienced the typical up and downs of a college freshman. Still, he was the only Memphis player to average double figures in scoring. His ceiling is incredibly high.

8. LeBryan Nash, Oklahoma State, freshman – The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Nash is regarded as one of the top wing prospects in the nation. Although he has the ability to score from the outside, he does most of his damage by using his size and strength to get to the basket. The Cowboys need offensive help with the graduation of Marshall Moses. Nash will provide it immediately.

9. Jeremy Lamb, Connecticut, sophomore – Kemba Walker may have commanded the spotlight, but Lamb was just as big for the Huskies during an 11-game win streak that ended with an NCAA title. Lamb averaged 15.3 points during the march and should be even better in 2011-12 now that Walker is gone.

10. Brad Beal, Florida, freshman – The Gators’ backcourt is already loaded with Kenny Boynton, Erving Walker and Mike Rosario. The 6-foot-4 Beal, though, is expected to be better than all of them as a freshman. A shooting guard, Beal has the ability to connect from deep. But his midrange game is equally impressive.

11. Josiah Turner, Arizona, freshman – Without Derrick Williams, the Wildcats probably won’t be as good as they were last season. Turner, though, is a point guard who will take over Williams’ role as the top player on the team. At 6-foot-3, Turner will be a matchup problem for most of his opponents. If he adjusts to the college game quickly, Arizona could contend for the league title.

12. William Buford, Ohio State, senior – Buford averaged 14.4 points for a Buckeyes team that finished 34-3 last season, yet he didn’t seem to receive nearly as much recognition as Jared Sullinger, David Lighty and Jon Diebler. Buford – who shot 46 percent from 3-point range and 86 percent from the foul line – will be hard to ignore next season, when the Buckeyes will be an NCAA title favorite.

13. Khris Middleton, Texas A&M, junior – Not many players in the country improved as much last season as Middleton, who drew interest from pro scouts while blossoming into one of the top players in the Big 12. The lanky, 6-foot-7 Middleton has an NBA body and skill set, but he tends to be passive at times. If Middleton develops a little more fire and confidence … watch out.

14. Marcus Denmon, Missouri, senior – Denmon was one of the top guards in America during the first half of last season, when it seemed like he couldn’t miss from 3-point range. Much like his team, Denmon fizzled a bit down the stretch. It will be interesting to see how adjusts to new coach Frank Haith.

15. Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette, senior – Johnson-Odom averaged a team-high 15.8 points for a Golden Eagles squad that reached the Sweet 16. He’ll be counted on even more in 2011-12 following the loss of Jimmy Butler. If Johnson-Odom comes through, it could be a special season for Marquette, which adds a standout recruiting class – and Oregon transfer Jamil Wilson – to a solid roster of returnees.

16. Mike Rosario, Florida, junior – Once considered an NBA prospect at Rutgers, Rosario transferred to Florida in hopes of improving his game. If he keeps his head on straight and adjusts to Billy Donovan’s discipline, he could end up being a huge difference maker for the Gators, who may end up with one of the top backcourts in the country.

17. Tyshawn Taylor, Kansas, senior – Taylor will be a fourth-year starter for the Jayhawks. He’s incredibly fast with the ball, which often leads to easy baskets in transition. More than anything, though, Kansas needs Taylor to assume more of a leadership role following the loss of the Morris twins and Brady Morningstar and Tyrel Reed. That may not be easy for a player who has had his share of off-court issues.

Chandler Parsons and Vernon Macklin Now NBA Players

Congrats to you both Chandler and Vernon. It's awesome to see others realize their dream. Parsons was drafted by the Houston Rockets and Macklin by the Detroit Pistons.

And, truly who would have thought it about either one. Chandler a package deal with then, "all world," Nick Calathes was considered a scrawny kid that didn't even start for his AAU team. And, Vernon was considered a problem player unwilling to compete with the likes of Jeff Green. My how times have changed.

We fast forward and Calathes, a sometimes uncoachable college player is off in Greece. And, the package deal has played four years at Florida. He left being the only Florida Gator Basketball Player to be named SEC Player of the Year, ranked 9th all time in rebounds with 879, and being the darling of the program.

Credit Billy Donovan for this one. Parson developed his body and his game. In the beginning he wouldn't dare go inside the paint. But, at the end he had a respectable outside shot and became a match up problem for most around the country. I am so proud he is a Gator.

And, Vernon Macklin a transfer from Georgetown really developed from year one to year two. You could see him getting comfortable in the offense. You could see him getting tougher down low. And, he came back his Sr with a go to shot. That shot none more present than it was against Butler.

Now, I wish the outcome of the Butler game could have been different. If so we would have been talking about the basketball, softball, and baseball teams making it to the Final Four in their respective sports. But, a great year nonetheless for this Athletic Program.

I heard the Pistons called Macklin back for an additional workout on Tuesday and obviously it paid off. And, you have to give the Pistons credit. I think the draft of Knight, Singler, and Macklin makes Joe Dumars, General Manager look very smart. I wonder if this is the start of the youth movement with that franchise.

Congrats to you both Chandler and Vernon again! And, Gator Nation owes you for some really great moments at the O'Dome.

UF Football Gets Their 13th Committment

Atlanta (Ga.) Marist kicker Austin Hardin received an offer from UF Wednesday morning following an impressive performance at the Will Muschamp football camp this week.

Despite offers from Auburn, Buffalo and Tennessee and more surely to come, Hardin had seen all he needed to in Gainesville.

“I knew it was the right place,” said Hardin, who is ranked as the No. 2 kicker in the nation by ESPN. “Athletically and academically, it's such a strong school and I really like that about it. It's such a great team and coaching staff and I'm just very excited.”

He gives the Gators 13 commitments for the class of 2012 and the fourth verbal from the state of Georgia.
Hardin holds a 3.85 GPA and said academics were one of the main reasons he chose UF.
